Video Of The Day Status Set
Status Set, the Post Punk four-piece from New York, made up of the three members of UV-TV, Ian Rose on vocals and guitar, Ian Burns on guitar, Rose Vastola on bass, in addition to Anders Newgard on drums, unveils a music video by Rosa Martinez, Vibexvisuals, and Michael Younker for the debut single “Destroy All Evidence.”
Started six years ago as the UV-TV drummer Ian Rose‘s solo 4-track bedroom project, Status Set has recently become a full-fledged exploratory band with the fresh arrival of Anders, a friend from his hometown of Chapel Hill, NC.

The single brilliantly fuses raw Punk energy with jagged New Wave edges and Power Pop melodic hooks, peppered with a Tom Verlaine-like nasal, deeply passionate, drawling vocal delivery.
Engulfed by an uncertain past that obscures the present moment, the track ignites tight, clapping, punchy drum patterns, along with anxious humming bass lines, trotting below a turbulent, agonizing contour of harsh riffs, tremolo reverberating frequencies and sheer bursts of rambling wailing guitar cries; pausing at 2:23 before slackening together in a ringing cathartic climax around restless, aggravated male vocals, raging into an unhinged rant with taunting echoes, “Destroy All Evidence.”

In the paired visuals directed by Rosa Martinez, with cinematography and editing by Vibexvisuals and art direction by Michael Younker, Status Set performs “Destroy All Evidence” amid vintage science clips to sync with the soundtrack’s unclear-history aspect. Strategic side-by-side screens combine with suggestive editing and a cynical attitude to bring forth thought-provoking questions about yesteryear.
