WL//WH Track Of The Day: GVTH DVDDY “Doom Kitty”

Track Of The Day GVTH DVDDY

Hailing from Portland, Oregon, Gvth Dvddy channels veteran musicians Kevin Robinson and Jake Endicott’s “sonic catharsis through angular guitar, lush synths, driving rhythms and contemplative vocals: the post-rock sound of ungrounded goth”.

The pair have just dropped the first excerpt, “Doom Kitty,” taken from the forthcoming sophomore album, “GVDV,” due out on 19 June 2026, via Velvet Blue Music, that will feature 10 conversations picking up where their self-titled debut left off, but now developed into a full-force live band.

Recorded & mixed by the band and mastered by Chris Colbert at the legendary National Freedom Studio, with a raw and urgent feel about them, with most takes being full live performances.

The song talks about how pretending not to be hurt and disappointed by a loved one’s self-deception causes inner fracture and destruction through a lens of trying to force yourself to believe, and act out, lies.

“A whiplash conversation with addiction & dementia,” reminiscent of the raw and dark squealing moods of The Gun Club,

“Doom Kitty” showcases a crunchy whirlwind of a lively dull and vibrant electric guitar that sizzles and twangs with a sharp, bracing tone, churned by relentless racing drums and thick nervous bass thumps, to buzz and rattle with a restrained yet achingly poignant searing edge, zipping atop wistful, regretful male vocals, layered with hidden resentment, split by dejected shadows and painful hope, to evoke feelings of heavy doom and blind dishonesty.

Gvth Dvddy‘s second album, “GVDV,” will be released, CD/LP/CASS, on 19, June 2026, via Velvet Blue Music.
