An arcane dreamlike folk ballad about a billowing cathartic walk through the enchanted woods to childhood, before all hope was lost.
“Venus in Scorpio” floats gently over dragging, hushed percussions, muted plucked arpeggios, sparse, crisp xylophone ripples and delicate, wistful fluted winds, to form a safe, canopied cradle around celestial-coated layers of whispery, vulnerable female vocals, lightly soaring toward harsh angst before a supernatural, twilight outro searches for lost sisterly seeds, through the heart of a healed adult.

The prolific Nashville-based guitar rock trio surprisingly dropped a 7-track album, rife with the band’s distinctive heartfelt and urgent songwriting that we are accustomed to, effortlessly blending 80s/90s influenced Indie-Rock, Shoegaze, Post-punk and New Wave elements within a vibrant and emotionally charged framework of high-energy, sparkling and catchy soundscapes, always peppered with thought-provoking lyrics. The LP closes with our two New Wave-inflected favourites of the lot, from the tightly buoyant, solemn and impassioned early U2 style of “Peripheral”, flooded with poignant chiming and wailing guitar work, to end with the infectious soaring synth washes and magnetic, emotive vocal delivery of “Live From The Living Hell.” Recommended!

After a decade-long hiatus, the Hong Kong atmospheric Shoegaze outfit returns to waft across impetuous waves of reverb and delay with a song about dancing beneath the silent waves of the sea with a special friend. An immersive and powerful heady fusion of Shoegaze, Dream Pop and Post-Rock with a cosmic bent, that layers ceaseless shuffling rhythms, fragile melodies of deep emotional sensitivity and lush, shimmering, lifting guitar textures with thunderous swirling walls of fuzz, as abrasive as they are invigorating, lingering and wailing around anxious, rushed male vocals achingly yearning to join with the tender, smooth female stream of comfort, patience and grace.
