North London-born, Manchester-bred, Cambodia denizens since 2023, electro-psychedelic rockers Frankie Teardrop Dead roll out a DIY video for their latest single, “I Can’t Be Bothered,” a Cambodia-made song that explores ‘reaching the point where you’ve simply had enough and can’t be bothered anymore.’

In the wake of Ben and Carling‘s psych sound re-shape with beat-driven, downtempo electro-rock leanings, “I Can’t Be Bothered” sets a loose shuffle of slapping drum programming with slowly creeping humming bass echoes, and a droning trembling signal, checkered with mellow, clean spindly guitar grooves, glassily rippling with wobbly wistful twinkling resonance around a depressed male/female vocal interplay, expressing frustrated, angry doubt and sad indifference into the slow flowing lysergic expansion.

The accompanying visuals sync clips from Kenneth Anger’s 1954 ‘Inauguration of the Pleasure Dome’ with the stagnated intoxication of the soundtrack. The avant-garde short film was inspired by Aleister Crowley‘s dramatic ritual masquerade party, where guests dress up as gods and goddesses to drink from a scarlet woman’s cups of abomination.
