One of the hotly tipped bands from the seemingly vibrant underground rock scene from the magical ruins of Borneo region, also bluemoongirl, and surfvampires come to mind, with a full album under their belt in 2021, Chlorine, the Brunei-based five piece atmospheric Shoegaze unit returns with a double single, “The Light Behind Your Eyes / Bystander,” paired with an Official Music Video by Fabyan Azhar for the opening track “The Light Behind Your Eyes.”
The song rises in sheer mesmerizing shoegaze fashion, tightly pulsing aloft with propulsive crashing drumming in a fuzz-laden sea of swooping guitar uplift and shivering ringing mists, overlaid by a spiralling emergence of warbling synths, joined by dreamy, excited male and Bluemoongirl’s female vocals, bathed in cascading flows of love and joy
In the paired visuals by Fabyan Azhar, two Zoom guitar pedals are used to display the lyrics of “The Light Behind Your Eyes.” Carefree nighttime footage shows a woman happily hanging out of a car window, with the wind blowing through her hair, to visually evoke the blissful immersive caress of the soundtrack.
