Genghis Don is a Chicago-based DJ and electronic musician with deep roots in house, drum and bass, Detroit techno, and electro. His relationship with music has been shaped by years of vinyl collecting – both locally and internationally – where he developed a lasting affinity for darker, machine-funk sounds emerging from The Hague and Rotterdam, particularly labels such as Clone, Bunker, Viewlexx, and Creme Organization. Moving fluidly through Electro, Machine Funk, EBM, Breaks, Drum and Bass, and Techno, Genghis Don treats DJing as a form of communication – a layered, otherworldly exchange between rhythm, machine, and listener. Even at their most precise, his mixes prioritize feel – preserving the human touch and physicality of the performance. He continues to develop his own compositions while releasing DJ mixes and remaining active within Chicago’s local DJ scene.
