Track Of The Day LOW MONROE
Following the early 2025 release of the dark and twisted “Deviant Hotline“, Naarm/Melbourne’s gothic noir post-punk artist Low Monroe emerges from the shadows with the new single “Desire Limbs,” preserving aplenty and evolving his signature dark imagery, the brooding performance, the theatrical and cinematic gripping storytelling.
Started in 2022 as a solo project and live band heralded by multi-instrumentalist and producer Mark Sergi, Low Monroe has released a series of acclaimed singles and an EP, forging a distinctive, moody, dim and atmospheric sound that blends post-punk and darkwave, drawing heavily from the stylized visuals, hardboiled narratives, and shadowy aesthetics of Old Hollywood crime and noir films.

“Desire Limbs” explores an ugly silhouette of vulnerability and repulsion.
A song about being tempted and hypnotized by escape, that lies somewhere amid the striking vocal viscerality of Peter Murphy and Alan Vega, swathed in the enigmatic southern gothic of Angelo Badalamenti.
A ceaseless, seething, achingly heart bounces, compelled by tightly wound, thudding percussions and ominously churning, cavernous low ends, pointed by clangers of shuddering and thumping urges, tormented by a discordant, grating and sharp agony of guitar riffs, whilst lush, clear, stern male vocals dare to be taken away from the present, before becoming lost inside airy intoxicating layers of dissociative desire.
Keep up with Low Monroe:

LM live at The Last Chance Rock N Roll Bar on the 30th of July.
