Hailing from Lucerne, Switzerland, Visions In Clouds (ViC) originated in 2015 when drummer Simon Schurtenberger and guitarist/vocalist Pascal Zeder hung up their solo projects in lieu of a more precise expression. In 2017, U.S. guitarist Leopold Oakes joined the ranks making his signature frenetic downstrokes an integral part of their personal blend of ‘80s influenced post-punk and new wave.
Following their well received debut album “Masquerade” in 2016, last year EP “Levée en masse” showed a band steadily exploring and refining both their sound and songcraft.
A newfound synergy between bandmates has built momentum culminating in the forthcoming 26th of October release of their sophomore album “What if There is No Way Out” via Parisian imprint Icy Cold Records.
Simultaneously gloomily heartfelt, minimalistic yet intense, “Tides” is driven by deep pulsating bassline and relentless pounding drums to form a consistent hypnotic underlay for restless guitar shifts from high pitched and quivering to sharp defined captivating and wistful melodies. Strong forceful vocals cry angst-ridden laments about love, loss, and anticipation.
Themes such as lack of trust, longing for yesterday, and fear of being alone are expressed in a hopelessly devoted love song. Presentiment manifests itself into reality with a harrowing ending left open for interpretation. “But the tide doesn’t come till the end!”
A “behind the scenes” video reveals rehearsal footage. Catchy melodies, desperate lyrics, and seeing how it is all made amalgamate into an intimate experience of camaraderie and craftsmanship….check it out!
