Genau, the Milwaukee, Wisconsin-based atmospheric Post Punk duo of Christopher Belkofer and Erik Gosnell, shares an imaginative, eye-opening video for the stirring new single, “Bronze Age,” ‘a late summer daze’ song mastered by Justin Perkins of Mystery Room Mastering.
A hypnotically melancholic introspection, fastened by a sinuously pulsing, rubbery bass groove and steady drum patterns, imbues shimmering, reverberating guitar melodies, fluttering overhead with fluid, glowing keyboards, emotionally mirroring, with shivering, crystalline high chimes, wistful, passionate male vocals, achingly haunted by emptiness, sorrow and loss of right focus.
In the paired visuals, Genau performs “Bronze Age” against a series of shifting visuals and illustrative symbols to evoke the idiosyncrasy mentioned in the soundtrack. The thought-provoking use of color, light/shadow, and trippy editing joins with the interpretive meanings of playhouses, puppets, archetypal figures, and earthen elements to aid in the oftentimes difficult-to-explain change of perception experienced by an introspective person.
