Cure For Youth, the Los Angeles-based melodic Post Punk band made of founding members Scott Savarie (bass, vocals), and Catarina Teles (synth), alongside Connor McKenna (guitar), and Nicolas Sturz (drums), drops an Official Music Video, by Josh Kuzo and Scott Savarie himself for “Scars”, the second single lifted from the forthcoming debut album “Synthetic World,” scheduled for release on October 1st via US-based label à La Carte Records (Vinyl 12″) and German imprint Summer Darling Tapes (Cassette).

The lineage of the debut album, “Synthetic World”, runs through Joy Division at its sharpest and lands near Ceremony or The Men — songs that know how to slow down without losing tension and speed up without losing the melody. Recorded and mixed by Alex Jacobelli at Sunsick Studios in LA and mastered by Andrew Oswald, the album sits in the present tense — modern life as a problem of attention, loss that arrives without permission — close enough to feel personal, roomy enough to feel inevitable.

Swathed in sentimental, gloomy moods, “Scars” sparks off an unremitting, urgent drumming and churning, whiny bass lines that fuel stabbing bursts of sparkling, cascading guitar riffs that shower reverbed melancholic mists into poignant, somber resonant tones and weeping keyboards, to surround regretful male vocals, backed by a light chorus of high halos, brooding, at times agitatedly, in cathartic waves of emotional insight.

In the Official Music Video by Josh Kuzo and Scott Savarie himself, Cure for Youth performs “Scars” in the deep shadows under a dreary purple light, to evoke the bleak pain of the soundtrack. Mixed within the vision, a person screams under the restriction of a nylon bodysuit, symbolizing the silent grief going on inside when a loved one, who was a calming, supportive influence, is gone.
