WL//WH Track Of The Day: DIRTY SPANGLES “Stormclouds”

WL//WH Track Of The Day   DIRTY SPANGLES

The elusive British newcomer Dirty Spangles are a Brighton-based Indie two-piece, made of Sarah Eaglestone (vocals, lyrics and guitars) and Nick Turner (guitars), influenced by Shoegaze and Psychedelic Rock, steeped in a lo-fi aesthetic.

The pair’s emotionally introspective, mesmerizing debut single, “Stormclouds“, reminiscent of Lush’s dreamy guitar textures, is a song about not losing heart in these sick modern times by pushing through the rough, grey stormy days with the help of the sun’s everlasting love.

The track unfurls with sun-dappled atmospheric field recordings, before steady, crisp mid-tempo drum patterns drive billowing hazy waves of effect-drenched shimmering guitars, laced with fluid keyboard layers, swirling around to stir an enveloping moody vortex into bright, heartfelt female vocals, fighting to radiate through thick distorted swells of doubt.
