WL//WH Track Of The Day : COSMIC WAVES “Going South”

Track Of The Day Cosmic Waves

Cosmic Waves is a Danish shoegaze/post-punk 4-piece established 2017 in Copenhagen, made of Lisbet Randefelt (vox, guitar), Martin Herskind (guitar), Steffen Lund (bass) and Lasse Schiøtt (drums & percussion).

After debut self-titled EP in 2017 and the recent live single ‘Live at Stengade 2018’, here is the sophomore self released ‘Control’ EP, a 4-tracker loaded with an urgent, intense and immersive blend, veering from bursting to dreaming, of noisey reverb-induced shoegaze guitar distortions, brooding and sombre darkened post-punk rhythms and moody and introspective psychedelic suggestions.

Mysterious and fascinating,“Going South”consists of prominent, ominous and hypnotic, rumbling bassline that pulses and resonates in sync with repetitive, taut drums, searing guitar melodies and sparse, swirling wash of reverb-infused distorted melodies, stick with lethargic eerie detached vocals sorrounded by a foggy, clouded atmosphere, amid seething swirl of excruciating guitar stabs, oozing murky and sullen vibes of delusion, pain and lately relief… ‘driving fast’, ‘going South’.
