Ukrainian DIY label Connectome Records presents the new V/A compilation, “Percolation VA,” opening the autumn season with a collection built around connection, mutation and the endless exchange of electronic ideas.
Bringing together 20 artists, this compilation explores the many forms of contemporary electro through a shared yet constantly shifting network of sound. Dark electro, robotic rhythms, raw machine funk, atmospheric electronics and more experimental approaches all coexist here, each artist bringing their own language into the system.
The title “Percolation” refers to the process of something spreading, filtering and passing through a connected structure. For Connectome, it becomes a metaphor for the way ideas, influences and sounds move between artists, gradually forming connections that could not exist in isolation.
WL//WH is pleased to premiere the fifth track, “The Shadow of the Past,” by the enigmatic DJ-producer Transpøsitiøn, a fine purveyor of dark, stark and stripped-down Detroit-style machine-driven electro.
As the name implies, *Transpøsitiøn* represents the act of shifting people, things, or concepts—changing their order or location to place them in a different position than before. Consequently, the form, concept, and intent of the expression itself undergo a significant shift right from the outset. Yet, it retains the core and fundamental essence of its philosophy: unity, rebellion, freedom of expression, and a refusal to view the creative urge as merely a business venture.
“The Shadow of the Past” compels crisp, pointed beats, punctuated by a tensile, springy layering of rounded thudding bass stabs whilst a slowed-down, gravelly, distorted voice clip struggles to transmit under wintry hissing sweeps of heavy static cast in stormy intervals of sharp, edgy flickering high frequencies and jittery, granular swooshes.
