Track Of The Day THIS IS THE BRIDGE
London area based ‘primitive’ electronic DIY music project started in 2013 by Richard Anderson, a.k.a. This Is The Bridge, one of the most refined, uncompromising and instinctive exponents to carry the torch of the darkly, cold yet emotive iconic British synth sound from the late 70s / early 80s, served with pristine melodicism and Anderson’s understated heartfelt magnetic vocal delivery, after a quite unusual hiatus, for such a prolific musician, of over 6 months to return with a new digital 4-track EP “Stop The Tape”, including the title track from the forthcoming album “Vanishing Point”, to be released through TONN Recordings in early 2025, plus three versions of it.
Dealing with feelings of alienation and discomfort within society, “Vanishing Point” unleashes industrial-dusted both popping and clattering, shuffling drum programming, and heart-pumping, buzzy pulsing low ends, topped by eerily sprawling drifts of moody Moogy synthesisers, washing over earnest, fearful vocals, coldly releasing tension layered with deep baritone broods, to conjure up modern dystopia.
Intriguing the variations veering from the rhythmically high-strung (Fading Light) to the uncanny heady spaciness of (Stop The Tape).
This Is The Bridge suggests nostalgic echoes of the past, somehow always able to be felt as suspended in time.
