WL//WH Video Of The Day: SAMT MARTIN “Herz aus Holz” (Official Video)

WL//WH Video Of The Day   SAMT MARTIN

“Somehow familiar, yet entirely different, Samt Martin sing of everyday longing and letting go, of new beginnings and living in the moment. Because after all everything stays the same – as long as it keeps changing.”

Samt Martin, the Berlin-based 90s inspired Indie Rock unit made of Lars Goldstein (Electric Guitar), Thomas Haider (Vocals, Guitars, Percussion), Max Krüger (Bass) and Simone Secci (Drums, Percussion), returns with an Official Video by Thomas Haider for their second single “Herz aus Holz” (Heart of Wood), via the Munich-based home for raw and honest music, Grantler Records.

“The new single gives to the band’s intricate indie sound a new coat of paint: carried by the sublimely calm pulse of the rhythm section and serenely accentuated guitars, surreal observations lie on the moss-covered forest floor like a fairytale landscape, asking ‘Who might you be?”

With a wavy and relaxed psych pop-inflected sound that’s equally lush, radiant, and blurry, “Herz aus Holz” weaves a vibrant yet languid, sun-dappled blanket of sharp, sparkling, effect-laden guitar melodies, grounded by a slow wobbling of sinuously warm bass pulses and steady plodding drums, layered with stretching glistening reverbs, sudden harsh strains and dazzling metaphysical soars around patient yet nervous wistful vocals, and whispery sluggish, slightly bitter spoken words, warning about fear and lack of present moment awareness.

An imaginative and crafty Official Video by Thomas Haider unfolds like a pop-up storybook and uses puppets, children, and animals to enact memorable fairy tales. The handmade décor, rich symbolism, and mythical characters stir the soul with a heartwarming sense of nostalgia, joy, and youthful hope.

Keep up with Samt Martin:
