I really like Leipzig, less hype but more underground and genuine than the fashionable and inflated Berlin, I was going to live there few years ago, all was ready but unfortunately then the fate decided otherwise…
Hailing right from Leipzig are the 4-piece Fun Fare, I discovered last year through an amazing video from an excellent split tape with the Berlin-based outfit Plattenbau via Flennen .
“Angry Colour” driven by pulsing bass-lines that carry the melody, immediately followed by sparse drumming and krautish synth effects, amazingly underpinned by lysergic guitar layers and Julia’s intense vocals, is a pretty emotional and melancholic take on the post punk genre with kraut/psych undertones elaborated with an highly inventive and refreshing personal feel.
Check out the trippy video by Franz Impler and Malwine Stauss , made of deserted landscapes and strange stone formations under the blazing red sun.
