WL//WH Track Of The Day MELTWAY
The Esbjerg, Denmark-based dreampunk outfit Meltway, made up of vocalist/guitarist Mathias Hammerstrøm, guitarist Thomas Brunbjerg, guitarist Kristoffer Møller, bassist Mikkel Schmidt, and drummer Magnus Bjørnsen, returns with the new single, “Jumper,” to herald the forthcoming EP, “By Popular Demand”, via Last Mile Records , consisting of five songs that, according to the band, nobody actually asked for.
Effortlessly able to move with ease between noise and melody, euphoria and introspection, while constantly imbuing multifaceted hues into their early archetypal Shoegaze sound, the band’s internationally praised 2024 debut album, “Nothing Is Real,” established Meltway as one of Denmark’s most intriguing Shoegaze acts, as the label highlights, ‘spending the last few years turning shoegaze inside out’.

The track swells and floats up and down, fueled by spring-loaded, dynamo drumming, in a resonant rush of bright, ringing riffs, at times coated with plaintive keyboard motifs, to veer from nervy, choppy and screechy stabs to calm and shimmeringly reflective, and back again, in sync with moody vocals that shift from high anxiety to melancholic longing and uncertain insecurity, expressing the memory loss, the experience of becoming lost, and the distance within a relationship.
Once again, Meltway reveals an unpredictable, fresh, and compelling ability to harmonize energy with dreamy melancholy, taking shape and substance within a whirlwind that never gets tired of blending grace with impetuosity.
Keep up with Meltway:
