WL//WH Track Of The Day DAS NOIR
First foray into the new year for the Athens, Greece-based dark experimental minimal project, characterized by the use of samples from music and movies, started in 2019 by native Australian musician and composer Nick Drivas, a staple of the local 80s-inspired post-punk/new wave underground music scene as part of several bands such as Distorted Image, Soho 6, Starblind, and The Moon In June.
The latest of Das Noir‘s collaborative singles, “Talk,” featuring the evocative Wayne Hussey-tinged guitar of Stephen Catifeoglou from Athenean Death Rockers Ventirati, is a brooding, moody song about the relentless words spewing from the mouth of a dark soul that infiltrates and takes over, with destructive and parasitic energies, an innocent one.
Steady skipping, sonorous drum patterns drive cascading goth-soaked sheets of subtly abrasive riffs with ringing wailing guitar spirals, sinister sweeping keyboards, and echoing desolate piano drops, swaying and funneling as looming harbingers of doom over softly spoken haunted vocals of slight anger and deep annoyance.
