PICKS OF THE WEEK:

  • Adelaide, Australia-based shoegaze /electronic /noise /dream pop collaborative solo project Ephemerons “The Imposter” (previously unreleased) from the CD archival collection, plus two unreleased tracks, “Past Tense // Future Tense”

One of the couple of unreleased tunes is a captivating, sensitive and intimate dreampop delight infused with relatable, heartfelt bittersweet sentiments, that gently bounces along with lively beats, smoothly bubbling electronic loops, brushed by sad lustrous key stabs, rueful, washy strings and aching guitar chords with deeply sad, sentimental male vocals laced with a sense of caring, wisdom, and unhappiness.

  • Norwegian twee /casio pop /dream pop /indie pop duo Remington Super 60 “Time to breathe” single

Norwegian sophisti-pop indie duo returns with a painstakingly crafted swaying filigree of hypnotic beats, rubbery bass impulses, glimmering guitars, and washy gauzy synths that gently reverberate with shimmering languors of bittersweet melancholy around lush, dreamy, brooding female vocals falling softly through feelings of disappointment, confusion, and anger.

  • Leeds, UK psych /shoegaze band Cellar Messiah “Drenched” single

By turns nostalgically reflective and relentlessly abrasive, Leeds psych-gazers new single seamlessly revolves around thick, billowing and trembling, sheets of mesmerizing guitar distortion, girded by rippling, ringing reverberations, swelling droney fuzz tones and high-pitched lifts of searing lysergic flourishes on which sad, brooding female vocals grow stronger, and more emotional, whilst becoming saturated and infused with a wide sense of otherworldliness amidst buzzing feelings of sorrow, insight, and catharsis.
