Finely embodying their minimal yet melodic and gently danceable Swedish duo’s sound, the slowed and stripped-down cover version, taken from Devo‘s 1982 5th LP, “Oh, No! It’s Devo!,” unfolds on a sober, mechanical, slightly off-kilter backdrop of muffled pulsing programmed beats along with buzzing, undulating low ends, punctuated by the earnest evocative crisp and thick throbs of an organic bass, layered with desolate synth motifs and melancholic faded keys, to lay the foundation for softly sung, gently frustrated spoken words, trying to identify and rearrange behavioral patterns in an attempt to improve self.
