  • UK lo-fi/jangly/indie guitar rock band The Late Pioneers “Moving Forward” from the new EP “Close Enough”

I was istantly hooked by the Stones Roses-like off-beat rhythms, the bouncing bassline, the groovy guitar chords, and the slightly hoarse and brazen vocals of ‘Moving Forward’, my favorite from The Late Pioneers‘ EP, along with the Big Star-tinged ‘Leaving Today’. It’s timeless throwback guitar pop, played and written, with such freshness and flair that it is well worth checking out.

  • Legendary Swedish indie/dream pop/synthpop trio (Niklas Angergård, Kristina Borg and Mikael Matsson), Red Sleeping Beauty – “A Place in the Sun” (Marine Girls cover) from the new retrospective EP “Covers 1992-1997” Bandcamp only 30th-anniversary celebration.

Twenty years after the collection of singles and rarities, Stockholm synthpop finest Red Sleeping Beauty gives us 3 covers from their archive to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary. Especially the song from the Marine Girls had a special place in my teenage years back in the days, the sea-flavored stripped down and acoustic original from 1983 is morphed into the band’s distinctive delicious and incomparable lounge-tinged dreamy and lush pop reverie. How can you not love RSB?
