Since 2014, Texpack, an Indonesian unit from Bangor, made up of Afnan (vocals/guitar), Dimas (vocals/bass), Pian (guitar) and Iqbal (drums), blends with energy, freshness and melodic flair the best bits of ’90s American Indie Rock and British Shoegaze.
Following the 2019 debut LP, “Spinning Your Wheels”, and the 3-track maxi single, “The Early Serenade”, a couple of years ago, the foursome is back on track with the new single “Edelweiss”, paired with a video shot on location at Kandank Jurank Doank by Robby Wahyudi Onggo.
Channeling indolent and crooked tones ala Pavement, amid erratic cadences, shaggy guitar drones and hummable hooks, “Edelweiss” provokes restless meandering moods pulsing on intense vibrant guitar strums, underpinned by stumbling drum beats and low thumping bass lines, layered with poignant echoing distorted strains and sad keyboard keys, to swell with shrilling obsessive angst, around lost dazed vocals, trying to find direction amid life’s repetition.
Heart-warming visuals shot on location at Kandank Jurank Doank by Robby Wahyudi Onggo capture Texpack and Muhammad Noer Abdul Rouf (Referee) in a ping-pong competition to sync seamlessly with the nostalgia of the soundtrack. Evocative urban backdrops, busy train stations, and ‘out of the window’ scenery shuffle with friendly hangouts to give the viewer an inside look at Bangor City, Indonesia.
Keep up with Texpack:
