WL//WH NEW MUSIC: PLATRONIC “Fortress of Fools” (Official Music Video)

New Music PLATRONIC

Platronic, the Finland-based German/Finnish Electro/Future Pop duo formed in 2020, made up of Frankfurt am Main-born singer/lyricist Kay Burden and composer/producer Sami Jumppanen, unveils an Official Music Video for “Fortress of Fools”, the original song from which the rework EP, “Fortress of Fools (The Emperor’s New Clothes),” springs forth.

The EP takes the Emperor’s New Clothes character and creates three new dresses for him: the Dark Electro Country Dress feat. On Moral Ends, the Synthpop Mashup Dress feat. Imppu, and Platronic’s own Dark Medieval Gothic Dress.

Kay, who has been struggling for some time to cope with the daily madness in the world, had written a poem. Her inspiration was a very popular fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen. Originally, she wanted to create a storytelling ballad. But then Sami presented to her a very cool, danceable instrumental piece and they let the magic happen.

A place where everyone lies and nobody cares, “Fortress of Fools” ceaselessly churns over a highly emotional sustained rush of hypnotic marching beats and nervously stretched, sharp bass throbs, topped by icy, dramatic sweeping synth spheres and eerie ghostly choral hums, swirling with haunting melancholy atop mysterious, wistful female spoken words, switching to desperate, aching cries that reach out to the blind and stupid who unknowingly follow their enemy.

In the visuals created by Platronic themselves, with post-fx by Asko Lintunen, the pair delivers a stirring performance wearing a beautiful old maid costume against an array of symbolic imagery. The vision plays out as a fairy tale, using a storybook, animated borders, swirling waters and etched maps amidst natural scenes of a distant twilight castle, rocky peaks, and sun-drenched sea shores. At the end, like wisdom herself, the singer gracefully sings into a megaphone, projecting her voice outward, loudly, to help rouse the thoughtless fools from their slumber.
