Flindal, the Queensland, Australia-based Dream Pop/Bedroom Pop musician and composer, rolls out the Official Music Video directed by James Latter for “Auburn”, the fifth and final single from the long-awaited debut album, “Silent In A Noisy Room,” coming September 30th.
Blending “Shoegaze with Industrial textures and Alternative Rock”, lyrically, “Auburn” is an inspirational song about getting absorbed into the world and forgetting one’s primary purpose.
Stirred by heavily dragging drum patterns, an obsessive subtly scratching swaying of tinny guitar strums meshes seamlessly with drifting washes of distorted dazzling skyward textures, sparse, crisp tinkly ripples, and fluid, subtly brassy synths, to weave an expansive shimmery aural tapestry infused with mesmerizing intimate yearning, around layers of sad yet hopeful male vocals, searching and waiting for the emergence of a faint celestial backup to arrive.
In the visuals directed by James Latter, Flindal delivers a soul-stirring interpretation of “Auburn” in sync with the soundtrack. Alone in the city as the sun dips low on the horizon, a man frustratedly battles his shadow, grappling with angst and fear. After running around to look for what he has lost, he takes off his dark long-sleeve top, revealing a plain white T-shirt beneath. Then, as the sun slowly begins to rise, he looks up to see the sky glowing with warm orangish-yellow hues.
