Echoberyl, the Paris-based dramatic Dark Wave duo made of Adriano Iacoangeli and Cecilia Dassonneville, deliver another spell of their infectious beat-driven dark storytelling to start the spooky Halloween season off with the DIY Official Video for “Your Poison”, a scary song about the nightmarish effects of a toxic relationship.
“Your Poison” bounces its way through an anxious, syncopated bass groove that throbs ceaselessly, alongside mechanically thumping marching beats, to set the dancefloor-ripe foundation for an eerie atmosphere, built by a swirling phantasmagorical array of buzzing and chiming emotive synth tones, radiating into cold melancholic shivering glows, around soft, regretful female vocals, layering with obsessive whispers and droning echoes whilst slowly being driven mad by a drop of another’s poison each day.
In the Official Video for “Your Poison”, Cecilia Dassonneville portrays the dueling personas of a toxic relationship in sync with the soundtrack. The dark one has slicked-back hair and black clothing and appears cool and sleek. The light one has disheveled tresses with white clothing, and plays a game with yarn in her hands. A grainy grey tilted hallway sets the boundary between the pair, and the red string, using stop-gap animation, wraps like poison around the head, hands, eyes, and neck. All the while, in the colorless area, Cecilia’s silhouette suffers in the inverted light darkness.
“Your Poison” Maxi Single also includes a couple of Remixes, and a Bonus Track, the synth-heavy atmospheric “The Secret Door,” which you can listen to below, via Mother Solitude Records‘ Bandcamp.Echoberyl has three shows left in 2026: today, October 9th in Montreal, Canada, on October 31st in Berlin, Germany, and on December 5th in Athens, Greece.
