Track Of The Day Night Nail

Night Nail, the Berlin-based via Los Angeles Post-punk outfit led by Brandon Robert, started in 2018, has recently unveiled the second excerpt, “Passion Squad,” from the upcoming fourth full-length album “Infinite Fountain,” mixed and post-produced by William Faith, scheduled for release on November 6, 2026 via Icy Cold Records.

In a not-so-distant future, unrestricted progress, dominated and controlled by a powerful minority of greedy and ruthless financial corporations, could dangerously change, overwhelm and crumble, if not collectively held back and regulated, an increasingly frenetic, fragmented and materialistic humanity.

Featuring the raw talents of Ruby Mai (sax), Pete Burns of Kill Shelter (bass guitar), VV & The Void (backing vocals), Alex Lee (synths), and mixed & co-produced by Sven Wolff, the band’s new single, “Passion Squad,” is a haunting, romanticized retelling of his real-life, tragic story working in e-commerce alongside the very technology designed to replace him.

Inspired by his final days in the corporate world, “Passion Squad” isn’t just a song about job loss—it’s a psychological dive into the digital abyss. Brandon flips the script, telling the story from the perspective of the Artificial Intelligence model itself.

A sonic reflection of our modern anxiety: the moment we realize the tools we built to help us are now watching us leave, smiling all the way.

A gripping, thought-provoking slice of the band’s refined, elegant and emotionally charged Darkwave songwriting, “Passion Squad” drives steady rhythms to trot under an eerie spectral darkness, dappled with insistent shimmery rains of glistening, echoing guitar melodies alongside synth glows, with sleek, forlorn grainy sax blows around smooth, magnetic vocals coaxed with layers of high angst and faint, gloomy shadows, to conjure an odd, surreal sense of sorrow and unease.

Night Nail‘s fourth full-length studio album, “Infinite Fountain,” will be released (CD & Digital) on French independent label Icy Cold Records.
