WL//WH Track Of The Day DETECTS
Detects, the synth wave solo project of Hattiesburg, Mississippi-based multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Warren Ard (also part of The Starlight Run and Blue Livingroom), has unveiled the second excerpt, “Amber In Black,” from the upcoming fourth album, “The Future At First,” due out on August 14th via his own label Way-Off Records.
A synth-heavy introspective immersion about being unable to escape the past, bursting with pulsing electronic energy and haunting refulgent dark ambience.
Unlike the urgent sweeping epicness of the first preview “I Hope Nothing Happens”, “Amber In Black” slows things down, unrolling hypnotic mid-tempo punchy beats along with vibrant chugging bass grooves, constantly throbbing below layers of high shining, sharp-edged melancholic synth sweeps, shrouded in shadows, swirling together, as if lost in a faraway space, to submerge male vocals floating between grey numb depression and aching emotional sorrow.
