Weekly Shoegaze / Dreampop / Psychedelic / Indie Tips – MARCH #10-23

PICKS OF THE WEEK:
  • Bristol, UK dream pop/post-punk /psych/shoegaze band Nossiennes “Mazurka (Single Edit)” from the upcoming album “Fresh Water Objects” on Shore Dive Records

I listened to and enjoyed the single in advance, albeit I’m still puzzled to come up with the agonizing ghostly coda without a deafening feedback blast, however, Bristol-based experimentalists as usual deftly blur the lines between Psychedelia, Post-punk and Shoegaze, to build a slow soaring haunting twilight through a heady mesmerizing interpolation of stumbling dynamic drumming, moody serpentine bassline and a shivering, obsessive and abrasive guitar work, injecting layers of bleakness and uneasiness through the hypnotic sprawl, whilst feather light pained vocals deliver metaphysical poetry about hidden fear into a fading night of intoxicating dread.

  • Los Angeles based post-punk /shoegaze /dream pop trio Fairfields “Revolver” new single

Sophomore single for the L.A. based band of sparkly and muffled guitar-pop, enshrouded in a haze of bittersweet nostalgia, confirms the positive impressions that the debut from a few weeks ago gave us a glimpse of. A sentimental longing for intimacy floats amidst bracing showers of fuzzed-out guitar distortion, sinuous warm basslines and off-tempo drumming, to ebb and flow in swelling wistful mists drifting over soft, alienated vocal romanticism, lost to a dreamy realm of blissful memories.

  • Italian lo-fi /indie pop /dream pop band split between Helsinki and Bergamo, Deine Mutti – “La Radio” single

This blog was born with the hope to emphasize up-and-coming unsigned young bands that strike us when listening, most of the time the result of pleasant, at times challenging, due to our little spare time, digging on the web, something that we normally did selfishly as both record collectors and sellers. We don’t pretend to be liked by everyone obviously, but a simple thanks you are always welcome. The Italian bedroom pop duo even kindly dedicated to us, in an illustrious and longstanding company, their latest single devoted to the independent radio shows and podcasts that help keep life livable. “La Radio” arouses stirring, nostalgic, Indie-Pop-tinged dancing pulsations ignited by aching searing retro guitar leads along wistful ebbs and flows brimming with bittersweet strums, jaunty drum beats and light reflective vocals, to give comfort and catharsis to our tedious work-laden cycles in an endless “dance, dance, dance to the radio.”
