WL//WH Video Of The Day: LUNAR LOCK “I Need To Find Some Time” (Official Video)

Video Of The Day  LUNAR LOCK

Formed in 2021, Lunar Lock, the Angers, France-based two-piece, made up of friends Romain Le Lavandier (vocals/keyboards) and Maxence Thulievre (bass), reveals a music video, created by Leï Hérisson, Zoé Bodénan, and Luc Ho Woui Fa, as part of the “Drawing for Drawing” workshop, animating “I Need To Find Some Time,” taken from last December’s long-anticipated debut album  “Stay Low For A Reason” via Icy Cold Records.

The young duo concocts an increasingly cohesive, expressive and poignant take on the minimal, introspective and atmospheric Coldwave/Post-punk sound, inlaid with evocative, reverb-filled jangling guitars, paired with rich, meandering bass lines, tense rhythms, liquid synths and a deep, moody baritone delivery, to create dynamic yet dreamy and melancholic ambiences laced with autumnal shades that hark back to Joy Division, The Cure, Motorama, Lowlife, Sad Lovers & Giants.

“I Need To Find Some Time” weaves a nostalgic, emotionally charged layering of vibrant, wistful melodies that insistently ring out, underscored by subtle, resonant atmospheric glows, over a spirited underpinning of tight, marching drum beats and rapid, serpentine bass pulses, whilst restless, sad male vocals deeply yet gently howl, and sigh gloomily, about the need to find time for life.

As part of the Drawing for Drawing workshop, an imaginative and symbolic animation, created by Leï Hérisson, Zoé Bodénan, and Luc Ho Woui Fa, places a figure inside a house that is being overtaken and destroyed by a black substance. Thoughtful and poignant hand- drawn textures combine with earthen colors and relatable experiences to draw the viewer into a story about how shadows and the unseen realm can infiltrate everyday life. The end isn’t a typical revelation, but a thought-provoking descent into the dark abyss itself, leaving the question of what might come next open within the mind, waiting to unfold externally.
