It’s always refreshing to see the start of new DIY label. Tirana‘s Kaluara Records strikes off the bat with a dangerously captivating and insanely danceable darkwave hit from fellow Albanian enigmatic newcomer Hostile Incoming.

Vienna‘s post-punk artist Florian Tremmel under his new German-language moniker Gran Bankrott takes us, through hypnotic, warped, intricate electronics, jittery, dismal guitar slivers, distressed and noisy synth riffs, buzzing basslines, broken yet sparse danceable synthetic rhythms, over affected vocals, into the desolate, socially disintegrated and neoliberal corrupted dark underbelly of the Austrian capital, seemingly a worldwide model of high-standard living. With last week’s Grotto Terrazza LP, surely the most original, intriguing and utterly provocative listen in a long time.
