Influenced by Creation Records and the Sarah Records heydays, Ta Toy Boy, an evocative Greek three-piece Indie Pop band from Thessaloniki, made up of composer, vocalist and keyboardist George Begas, guitarist Elias Smilios and bassist Yannis Lianopoulos, drop the second single of the year, titled “Cheap Suits”, since the 2021 sophomore album, “Endless Life”, via Make Me Happy Records, accompanied by a dramatic video directed by Tasos Paschalidis, cinematography by Stef Tsakiris and photography by Dimitris Frastanlis.
A title that could recall the ‘cheap suits’ bought for few quids and made to appear, with an absolute trompe l’oeil, of refined elegance in pure, somehow melancholic, ‘modernist’ ethic, unravels a warm obsessive, river of nostalgic longing stirs up an adoring heartfelt vocal confession, smoothly gliding over organic shimmering jangly guitar flows, trotting drum beats, and sinuously groovy bass lines, decorated by sad meandering keyboard veils and clavichord-like soft whimsical melodies, whilst passionately swooning within a star-struck memory of love at first sight.
Cinematic visuals by video by Τασος Πασχαλιδης – Stef Tsakiris (AVoid Productions) sync a hip, 80s clad, business couple with the rollercoaster passion of the soundtrack. An engaging series of intimate encounters deciphered through the on-point emotional expressions of actors Egli Katsiki and Delagor draw the viewer into a secret fantasy of steamy flashbacks and dreamy afterglows.Produced by Konstantina Pantazi
