WL//WH Track Of The Day: DISASTER “Dead Hours”

Track Of The Day  DISASTER

We featured a couple of years ago Disaster, the solo Coldwave/Post Punk project by the Sydney-based artist Krizz Void, at the time still mysterious, yearning and aching with verses of hopeless despair from a “Poem for the Night Sky.”

After a break, the Australian musician is back this year with a handful of singles, augmented by a stripped-down instrumentation made of a mechanical drum machine, deep bass, icy synths, and emotional, effects-laden guitars, floating between light and dusk, while his heartfelt broods bring forth passionate romantic laments of distress and gloom.

Imbued by a deep sense of resigned, quiet acceptance, the latest single, “Dead Hours,” skips over clattering, mechanical programmed beats and gritty, doomy bass lines that sonorously murmur beneath faint swaths of spectral synths and shimmering, echo-laden guitar glimmers, desolately shivering around extremely sad male vocals, with a slight rebellious anger, drifting away into dreams.
