WL//WH Premiere OPINION
The French kaleidoscopic Garage/Shoegaze one-man band, 4-piece for live concerts, Opinion, masterminded by the precocious Bordeaux multi-instrumentalist, singer and composer Hugo Carmouze, who dropped his debut LP at the early age of 13 years old in 2016, unveils the second single, titled “Mains,” WL//WH is pleased to premiere, lifted from the forthcoming twelfth album “Troisième Opinion,” scheduled for release on December 6, 2024 via Howlin’ Banana Records, Flippin’ Freaks Records, Les Disques du Paradis and Nothing Is Mine.
One of the LP’s catchiest songs fuses saturated, melodic guitars with influences from Power Pop and Shoegaze. The infectious French-sung chorus (“You hold my hand / I hold your hand”) transforms it into an instant pop-rock gem, reminiscent of the styles of Hotline TNT, Alex G, Elliott Smith and My Bloody Valentine.
An equally ragged and mesmerizing 90’s-tinged bridge between MBV’s shimmery haze and Dinosaur Jr’s lo-fi buzzed, noisy melodicism with subtle psychedelic sheens, “Hands” is an obsessive love song that digs into the relentless edgy clattering of insistent drum beats along with low gurgling bass pulses, vibrant fuzzy guitar tones and sizzling screechy ripples, to envelop atmospheric vocals, layering high anxiety dreaminess and a light carefree ‘woo hoo’ chorus, with the sensation of being with a loved one in a cozy bubble, separated from an unbearable distracting surrounding.
Opinion‘s upcoming twelfth album “Troisième Opinion,” is due out on December 6, 2024, via Howlin’ Banana Records, Flippin’ Freaks Records, Les Disques du Paradis and Nothing Is Mine.
