WL//WH Premiere: JËAN FiXX Becomes the “Serial Killer” (Official Video)

 WL//WH Premiere  JËAN FiXX

WL//WH is very pleased to welcome the multimedia Spanish Electronic DJ, musician, and producer from A Coruña, Félix Fernández a.k.a. Jëan Fixx, with the premiere of the DIY music video for his recently released digital single, “Serial Killer”, first under the Berlin-based Iptamenos Discos label, run by DJ & producer duo and couple Local Suicide, that shares similar ideals to the artist through innovation, creativity, and flair.

Jëan Fixx is the musical alias of Félix Fernández, whose artistic approach envelops themes of societal, political, and environmental reflections. His music is not restricted to one genre and finds the right balance between Techno, Synth Wave, Dark Disco, Electro, and Downtempo.

“Serial Killer” uses elements of fast-paced techno and reverberated percussive samples from soundscapes that reflect industrial environments. The punchy kick is matched by eerie vocals that correlate with the track’s theme of serial killers. Sitting in the high-frequency space above the drums are the arpeggiated and sweeping synths which create hypnotic features for the listener and add a sense of movement to the track.

A surreal and disassociative dance number drives high-energy drum programming and flickering bass lines through a clanking tunnel of harsh melting synth swathes, whilst menacing whispers cast eerie echoes into the ebbs and flows of a Serial Killer’s fascination.

The multi-talented artist, inspired by the slasher film genre, also presents us with a fast-paced, self-directed fiction music video for the song in which he portrays himself as a very peculiar “Serial Killer” who changes his physical appearance to avoid capture and disposes of his victims’ bodies by torching cars and faking traffic accidents.

During the DIY Official Video, it would be easy to be fooled by the different mug shots set against the usual height measurement backdrop used in police line-ups. The wide selection of hats, wigs, make-up, jewellery, and glasses dramatically distracts from the perception of Jëan Fixx’s immutable characteristics. Imaginative editing uses alternate timeline overlays, asymmetric split-screen configurations, and a swirling subliminal Rorschach inkblot environment, to further enhance the dark psychology of the soundtrack.
