PICKS OF THE WEEK:
- Brooklyn, NYC based shoegaze /dream pop band Vivienne Eastwood “Demise” single
Although no strangers to long breaks, exactly 5 years since their sophomore EP, the Brooklyn-based band Vivienne Eastwood returns in a seemingly bittersweet ’emo’ mode with a new gauzy intimate single to cocoon the listener’s ears while swaying through shimmery guitar strums and glistening ripples, left glittering and trembling around a soft and agonizing, plaintive vocal delivery.
- Spencer, Iowa alt-rock /fuzz /shoegaze band PURPLISH “Move mountains” single
Hazy and atmospheric emotive Shoegaze from Iowa, the new single “Move mountains”, albeit a further one has just been dropped, meanders and stumbles with gentle yet piercing vocals that heartfeltly glide through an enveloping and fuzz-laden sprawl of guitar distortion, enthralled by the beauty and mysticism of enduring faith.
- Indianapolis, Indiana five-piece noise pop /psychedelic rock band Living Dream “Lift a Feather” from “Absolute Devotion” EP 12″ [Inscrutable Records]
Perfumed with 60s West Coast organic lysergic flavours, the song stomps its sizzling strummed way on a squiggly spiralling of glittery electric guitar melodies, plinking with increasing sharp obsessive and pinpoint intensity over deep spoken words, swinging into a high dreamy chorus, while comforting another not to worry, cause “You don’t have to lift a feather.”
