Video Of The Day  MEMORY INDEX

Memory Index, the Electronica-infused Post Punk moniker of the Indianapolis-based musician, singer, and composer Jackson VanHorn, announces the release of the anticipated 9-track debut album “Erosion”, scheduled for release on October 10, 2025, via the German independent label Cold Transmission Music, with an Official Video for the fourth excerpt “Wake Up.”

Wake Up” is a pretty direct take on where things are politically, questioning whether we’ve already gone too far. I think the overall sound and lyrics were subconsciously influenced by For Against. “Echelons” is one of my favorite records, and on that album in particular, Jeffrey Runnings kept things simple, honest, and a bit cynical. I think that made its way into this track.

Introspective and emotional, the song reverbs with glistening, melancholic guitar melodies, which somberly weep and obsessively bleed over persistent punchy drum beats and plump bass pulses, to trembling and skittering with slightly husky, moody vocals, turning from soft broods to an anxiously pained chorus where vibrant, glassy rains of urgency take hold.

In the visuals, a woman tells a story with her body, using suggestive filters to sync with the soundtrack’s psychology. She looks like a robot at the beginning and end under inverted negative lighting as she does an incremental mechanical yoga stretch. During the middle, the perception changes to a colorful, blurry psychedelic setting where her hands become the focus and seem to have a magical aural energy. The last segment provokes thought about angles of sight and what lies beneath the exterior of the eye.

Memory Index‘s debut album “Erosion” will be released, CD & Digital, on October 10, 2025, via  Cold Transmission Music.
