Labelled the ‘Denmark’s finest musical export of post-punk and dark new wave’, The Foreign Resort is definitely one of the few bands that are reinventing, along with Detroit’s Protomartyr and Vancouver’s Actors, the classic post-punk sound in a personal modern way.
‘She Is Lost’ is an intimate and sincere sad love song, heavily made of electronic analogue sound, synth and programmed beats and basslines combined with shoegazing reverb-guitar and emotionally tense vocals, wrapping together into a vortex of deep melancholy and melodic touching beauty.
The band’s long-awaited full-length will be released in the fall of 2018; in an interesting interview I had last summer with the singer/songwriter Mikkel Borbjerg Jakobsen here, he promised ‘one thing is for sure though. We’re keeping the drums big sounding on the next album’, be warned…
