Video Of The Day ELEKTROKOHLE
International Noise-Post-punk newcomer trio based in Berlin comprises members from Italy, Germany, and Brazil, namely Suzan Flag (bass), Mr. Cigarette Butt (vocals, synth), and Mona Manie (guitar, vocals), have dropped an Official Video by Murilo Sá for the track “Vollmond”, giving us insight into their freshly relesed debut self-titled 4-track Tape-EP.
Pulling their inspirations from ’80s Punk, Krautrock, Noise, DarkSurf, and Punk-Blues bents, the band’s self-dubbed “Cold Punk” sound is defined somehow as a visceral and gritty mix between Suicide, Birthday Party, Malaria!, and Warsaw and all in between.
Poetic multi-lingual lyrics capture a bout of sleepless mania under the bright, stirring supernatural glow of a full moon.
“Vollmond” drives dark, minimal, nihilistic vibes imbued by dull, abrasive screeching guitar riffs, deep throbbing bass lines, and skipping drum beats, into a jagged and discordant flow of relentless chafing angst around haunted airless baritones and sinister backup haloes, swaying heavily into an abrupt swirling vortex of harsh distorted obsessions.
Evocative black-and-white visuals, filmed and edited by Murilo Sá, open hypnotic portals to the Jungian realm of symbols and shadows. Translucent overlays, optical illusions, and esoteric imagery invoke subconscious powers of insight whilst suggestive poses direct the viewer toward lunar reflections and distant neon flows where strobing light manipulations trigger time and space dimensions into astral perceptions.
