Memory Index, the Coldwave / Post-Punk project of the Indianapolis-based musician, singer, and composer Jackson VanHorn, follows last year’s debut album “Erosion” with the new single, “Confess,” as usual via the German independent label Cold Transmission Music.

The song conveys the immersive, lingering melancholic tone and spacious cinematic quality that characterize Memory Index’s distinctive contemporary atmospheric post-punk sound.
The introspective tension, amidst desolation and hope, is fueled by a sharp blend of stirring melodic intricacy and nuanced, gleaming instrumental clarity that pulses steadily through a vibrant rhythmic core of urgent hypnotic drum patterns and humming, meandering bass pulses layered with the trembling ghostly breezes of glistening guitar lines, fluid, enveloping synth pads, and intervals of anxious strummed stabs, while sad, withdrawn vocals shift between aching regret and emotionless anger, to explore identifying and trying to overcome cognitive dissonance.
