Victoria, Canada-based heavy Post Punk duo Small Pleasures, born in 2023 from the fusion of French native Viny (bass, vocals) and Canadian-born Nevada Brown (drums, synth, vocals), fresh from their buzzing second European Tour, have dropped a video by Sean Stanley for “Driving At Night,” the first excerpt from their forthcoming second album scheduled for later in the fall.

Abrasive and simmering as well as hypnotic and immersive, the new single deals with a thrill ride at night with a friend.

A dangerous, riveting drive ceaselessly propelled by ominous droning bass lines churning along a high-energy thumping drumming and screechy, expansive detuned guitar strains, skids and crashes against aloof, excited female vocals, turning to edgy cries with lively male layers, under transformative swathes of rugged swarming mists,

In the paired visuals, Sean Stanley places nighttime driving footage of Small Pleasures under an array of shapeshifting filters to sync with the vibes of the soundtrack. A strategic use of light and shadow combines with jerky shifts in speed and trippy psychedelic views to bring forth a strange, chaotic vibe swept in euphoric dissociation.
