WL//WH Track Of The Day: VENUS IN NOISE “How would I know?”

Track Of The Day  Venus In Noise

Venus In Noise, the London-based noisy electro post punk duo of Greek singer and lyricist Aphrodite Goulioumi and Argentinian musician and composer Pablo Casadey, keep on dropping scarce catchy and electrifying singles since 2021; the latest, “How would I know?”, is their 8th so far.

Influenced by the Riot Grrrl punk aesthetics, the two-piece deploys caustic swirling distortions, which overlap obsessively and crunch into repetitive, at times dancing, rhythmic patterns paired with a detached vocal delivery.

The song splats out mechanical thumping programmed beats that ceaselessly drive a hypnotic throbbing reiteration, slathered in a thick glaze of gritty and abrasive circular guitar riffs and spare bluesy, menacing and blistering leads, whilst aloof yet stern female spoken words unabashedly say no to a person who is constantly looking for someone else to tell them what to do.
