WL//WH Track Of The Day: GHOST TAIL “Allthewhile”

Track Of The Day  Ghost Tail

Dubbed as ‘gazey post-punks’, Los Angeles-based blurred duo, Ghost Tail, made of Dove (vocals) and Shaun (guitars /programming), deliver an as both ethereal and effect-laden, as shadowy and ringing, guitar-driven sound with droning shoegaze undertones, teetering between mesmeric introspections and intense emotional crescendos, connecting the dots between the post-punk of bands such as The Chameleons, Comsat Angels, Lowlife, For Against, Sad Lovers And Giants and the dream-pop of Cocteau Twins, A.R Kane The Cranes.

Following last May’s promising first “A Haunting” EP, the band have just released a new single, “Allthewhile”, that will be included in the forthcoming, still to be announced, debut full-length, and the remastered version of “Eileen (Where Do You Go)”, all with a clearly improved, highly evocative, sparkling echoing ‘twangy’ quality.

The soul-stirring “Allthewhile” winds its way on downtempo, smacking, panting rhythms, dappled by reverb-dusted, entrancing crystalline guitars, on which creeps a sinuous throbbing bass, weaving glowing resonances and melancholic breezes that pierce the sad, algid shadowy nocturnal aura, shimmering with magnetic and bewitching somber intimacy around fragile, romantic male vocals gushing excruciating heartfelt sentiments into the agony and ecstasy of ghostly love.

Definitely, a band to keep an eye on, even more, if they can find constantly their own distinctive way.

Keep up with Ghost Tail:
