Berlin-based dark-folk project masterminded by the Blackjack Illuminist Records head honcho Alexander Leonard Donat (Vlimmer, Fir Cone Children, and ASSASSUN), Feverdreamt unveils “Pure Existence”, the third and final single preceding the release of the fourth album, “Our Only Fault Is Existing”, due on July 3rd via Blackjack Illuminist Records, which WL//WH is pleased to premiere.

Serving as the album’s opening track, “Pure Existence” immediately establishes the emotional and philosophical landscape of the record. Built around acoustic guitar, a fractured piano, chamber-pop drums, ethereal synthesizers, and swelling trumpet and trombone in the chorus, the song balances fragile intimacy with cinematic weight. It is dark, melancholic, and quietly overwhelming.

The song’s central image is quite physical. Thoughts and fears emerge from the body like twisted metal, hardening into a second skin. Scars become visible not through action but through endurance. Existing itself becomes both the wound and the condition from which no escape is possible.

Lyrically, “Pure Existence” explores a feeling familiar to many yet rarely articulated: the sense that merely existing in the modern world leaves marks upon us. Emotional burdens, anxieties, disappointments and private struggles gradually become part of our identity, shaping us from within until they feel inseparable from who we are. At the heart of the song lies the album’s defining line: “Our only fault is existing.”

Sound wise, the achingly sad resonant interplay of ethereal, radiant shivering synths and sharp bright guitar chords reflects a lonesome glowing sky over nervous, sparkling acoustic arpeggios and energetic stabbing strums, anchored by sparse, stumbling percussions, weaving and bleeding vibrant, pain-filled reflections around multi-tonal layers of haunted, vulnerable male vocals, struggling with and suffering in the toxic effects of contemporary life.

Feverdreamt‘s new single, “Pure Existence,” is out today, June 26th, while the upcoming 4th album, “Our Only Fault Is Existing,” will be released (CD / Tape & Digital) on 3rd July via Blackjack Illuminist Records.
