The band trawls through a mid-paced, slow-building nostalgia of Brit-indie-rock allure, loaded with buzzing emotional intensity, whilst not avoiding to amp the fuzz pedal.
“Missing Bernadette”, perhaps an insight into the band’s name, blends steady hypnotic rhythms, energetic tinny strums, and slow bursts of grungy fuzzy guitar textures with sparkling melancholic overtones and glowing evocative keyboard drifts, around restless, regretful male vocals, nostalgically longing for the kindness of a loved one, with vibrant intervals of emotional urgency, “God I miss you so bad.”
In the Official Video by Alexandre De Bueger, layers of transformative filters overlay The Bernadette Maries as they perform “Missing Bernadette” in sync with the soundtrack. The live footage then seamlessly turns into a strobing lilac-grey sky behind the trio who stand on a river bridge overpass, bringing forth a surreal cyber-futuristic vibe that aligns with the dueling timelines of the lyrics.
The Bernadette Maries’ debut album, “Soft,” will be released on September 18th via Géographie.
