Countdown to the Telepathic Windows Festival 2026 Vol. 1 // An Interview with THE MOONBUGS

• Thanks so much for the interview. Let’s trace the band’s roots and story.

We met at a local music fest back around 2004 in DC and started hanging out. We bonded over our common interest and musical taste.

• What are your main influences and inspirations?
  

We like The Beatles, and a lot of 80’s Post Punk, and Psychedelic music.

• How would you describe your sound?

Our sound is guitar-driven with trippy beats and hypnotic bass lines… and a lot of delays and reverb for that spacious, wall of sound as people
would call it.

• What does the word ‘shoegaze’ mean to you?”
  

It’s the type of music that you just lose yourself to. You listen to it and you get transported to your own dream-like world.

• Tell us a little about your recording process and how you create your songs.
  

We record our tracks ourselves, mainly with an iPhone and Garageband. We also use other recording suits on PC, but we are DIY.

• Which song(s) are you most proud of and best represent the band?
  

It’s hard to pick just one song, but we recommend these 3 songs to people if they want to check us out: “Ends Well”, “What Tomorrow Holds”, and “Hoy.”

• What kind of old/new music are you listening to? Any current bands/artists that you are excited about at the moment?
  

We listen to a lot of early shoegaze like Ride, Slowdive and 90’s indie rock like Pavement, Versus, Dinosaur Jr, etc.

• Who would you most like to collaborate with?
  

We just enjoy playing with bands that share the same interest in music.

• What has been your best/worst gig so far (both as a performer and spectator)?

Best show as spectator: Slowdive, Unwound, Lorelei… Best show as performer: Fort Reno in 2019. That was a huge milestone for us.

• What are your expectations for the upcoming Telepathic Windows Fest? What should the audience expect from your performance?

We expect a day of great music. 

• What are your plans for the future?

We have a lot more ideas that we’d like to manifest and record… and maybe hopefully go on tour. We’ll see.

We hope to see everyone at the Telephatic Windows Fest on 6/20/2026 and at our future shows. Keep rocking that reverb, long live shoegazing.
