WL//WH Video Of The Day: MAUD ANYWAYS “What’s Gone Is For Nothingness”

Video Of The Day  Maud Anyways

Fresh from the partnership with the steadily growing English independent label 1991 Recordings, the French Shoegaze-infused Indie Pop project of Maud Platiau Bourret (lead guitars, vocals, synths, bass), Maud Anyways, augmented by musician Casper Iskov (drums, bass, acoustic guitars), returns with another thought-provoking video/song, “What’s Gone Is For Nothingness,” this time about a woman whose psyche goes crashing in after losing a battle with an obsessive fear of abandonment.

The mesmeric and introspective, “What’s Gone Is For Nothingness” pulses along the vibrant interplay of lively drum beats and supple syncopated bass grooves layered with wistful glowing synth textures, and sheer textural flickers, to expand and caress Maud’s deep hued, dreamy, emotional delivery, radiating outward with immersive fluid waves of effect-laden distortion.

In the paired DIY video, Maud Anyways performs “What’s Gone is For Nothingness” with her guitar under transformative lighting. Symbolic shades of brightness and color cloak Maud’s serious, knowing expression with an array of over and under-saturated intensities. Seven TV sets with the same image, two are empty, bring forth different moods by using an assortment of pale shades. A watery layer, along with other strobing and disconnecting frequencies, blurs the vision, syncing seamlessly with the subconscious realm of the soundtrack.

Keep up with Maud Anyways:
