Video Of The Day LEFT FOR PLEASURE
The Halle (Saale), Germany-based Post Punk / Darkwave duo tease their second album, “Claymore”, due out on October 17th, via Young & Cold Records , with a stunning DIY 3D music video created and animated by one half of the band, Tobias Zavaczki (VOIDGAZE), for the second song “Burden”.
A nervous chugging river of ominous bass lines and steady, clattering drum patterns flows under a haunting inner landscape of poignant shivering melodies and obsessive, heart-rending guitar meanderings, that ring and bleed in desolate pain-filled resonances around cool, drawn out female spoken words, describing a dark relationship made of phoniness and self-hatred, while an array of echoing lashes, knocks, and shatters traumatize with fear-inducing consistencies.
The DIY short film uses the video game software Unreal Engine 5 to turn the soundtrack into a wonderfully imaginative Tolkien-esque Sci-Fi adventure. “Burden” begins with an ice queen warrior who stands in front of a shadowy red forest while spinning and then crushing a figure in her hand. The environment is cold and apocalyptic, cavernous and sterile, but for swells of blood that erupt around stone symbols. Halfway through, a figure cloaked in red rises with a sword as wild horses run through a purgatorial realm, causing the dark queen’s mask to fall from her face and shatter. The clip ends by showing her evil highness impaled inside a rotating structure that inverts reality, syncing seamlessly with the intimate lyrics, reflecting on the onerous weight of inner struggles.
Left For Pleasure‘s upcoming second album, “Claymore”, will be released, in Vinyl LP, Cassette & Digital formats, on October 17 2025, via Young & Cold Records. Already on pre-order through the label’s Bandcamp.
