WL//WH Video Of The Day: MARINA YOZORA “Touché” (Official Music Video)

WL//WH Video Of The Day  MARINA YOZORA

Marina Yozora, the Japanese multi-cultural Dream Pop singer and songwriter based in London, returns with an Official Music Video by Lucinda Lewis for her third single, “Touché,” a love letter to friends, family, and fans.

I wrote this song early morning around 5am in my bedroom, so pretty that the sunlight poured through the little corners of the curtains. There are two stories behind this song: One, is that for those few minutes of this song, I  felt like I had to say goodbye to someone I hadn’t met yet. Almost like I was feeling myself in another time dimension.

The reflective and comforting “Touche” unfurls suffused slow stung electric guitar chords that strum and hum with a gently pulsing dense bass line, beneath layers of breath-taking crystalline female vocals, surrounded by the tender shivers from Amelia J Smith’s wistful, brassy synth melodies, capturing the all-encompassing emotional warmth of blissful intimacy.

The second story, behind the song, is that I was up all night, practising for my headline show in Tokyo, which I sold out to. It was my last show before moving to London as an artist. And within this transition, knowing that I was loved by these fans and friends, I was just grateful. I’m always surrounded by warm people who trust me and my visions. This song, “Touché”, is my reply to their love.

An imaginative use of lights and reflections by Lucinda Lewis builds a pensive, vintage aura around Marina Yozora as she visually interprets “Touche”. Dainty flowers cast in ephemeral prisms and hazy glows set one of the thoughtful outdoor areas in which MY contemplates life, smiles at the camera, dreams in the shadows, and plays the guitar, syncing wonderfully with the intimate sharing nature of the soundtrack.

In the next few months, Marina Yozora will be performing live in Manchester, Rome, Italy, and Lisbon, Portugal.

Keep up with Marina Yozora:
