WL//WH Video Of The Day: BLANCHE BIAU “I Close My Eyes”

Video Of The Day  Blanche Biau

Fresh from releasing the sophomore album, “Heartcore,” via Young & Cold Records, the Zürich, Switzerland-based solo project Blanche Biau shares the visuals, created with Aaron Chaudhry, for “I Close My Eyes”, the second of a two-part music video, the first was last month’s “Desire”, both filmed in Vienna back in April.

Blanche Biau‘s atmospheric and surreal immersive sound delves into 80s-tinged Cold Wave/Post-punk mystique, imbued with detached melancholy, all duly flavoured with hazy shoegaze fragrances.

The introspective and moody “I Close My Eyes” drives hypnotic, tight programmed beats laced with the relentless, sonorously humming undulations of gloomy bass throbs, pierced by aching intervals of abrasive distorted guitar sheets and dramatic quivering synths, while whispery sober female vocals turn into a confused stuttering vortex, before hearing her name called and knowing what to do.

The visuals by Aaron Chaudhry begin with Blanche Biau wearing a white dress and dramatic make-up by Eliana de Camargo while walking through a green hedge maze under a sunny sky. Following that, a series of symbolic images representing life, death, and rebirth is displayed. Then a fall takes place, and a solar/lunar eclipse mystery, with a silver knife and gold key enigma, reveals a transformation from caterpillar to butterfly.

Blanche Biau‘s “Heartcore” album release show will be held on October 10th at Zurich‘s Helsinkiklub with support by sleeper spies, and joined on stage by Josip Thymian and Vivien. There will also be special new merchandise in collaboration with Seven Blanks.

Keep up with Blanche Biau:
