Quebec City-based Post Punk trio Palissade, made of Thomas Denux-Parent (lyrics, vocals, guitar,) Catherine Roussel (synths) and Martin Labbé (bass guitar), return, almost four and a half years after their self-titled debut album, with a seemingly warmer, more contemplative and atmospheric tweak of the band’s 80s-inspired Cold Wave vision, and, according to the press, also ‘waving at times towards more energetic and danceable rhythms.’
The forthcoming 4-track EP “Repères Troubles”, due on September 20, is “inspired by parenthood and the quest for meaning, the introspective music is confined between shadow and light. When listening, a feeling of existential strangeness emerges, like a melancholic joy, sublimated on stage”.
The first preview, “Vertige”, is defined by a ghostly and somberly melodic sound with a poignant emotional heap, permeated by nostalgic and haunted moods, amid a brief reflective interlude with a subtle Banshees nod, creating evocative and immersive shadowy realms, sculpted by obsessive intricate ethereal tapestries of sparkling guitar lines, punctuated by a crisp, punchy drum programming and churning bass grooves, swept by forlorn cinematic synth flows, melancholically reverberate over a chilly humming aether, to wash wistful vocals with a meaningful contemplation.
Palissade‘s third opus, the 4-track EP “Repères Troubles”, will be released on September 20 via the major sharing platforms.
